The City of Malabon University (CMU) hosted a significant meeting with the Rotary Club Presidents of Malabon on April 24, 2024, marking a collaborative effort towards future projects and the reorganization of Rotaract. University President, Dr. Glen DV. De Leon warmly received the Rotarians and expressed sincere appreciation for considering CMU as a beneficiary for their upcoming plans and initiatives.
Prof. Jed Concepcion a full-time faculty of CMU shared about reviving the Rotaract, a youth organization sponsored by Rotary Club of Malabon which will help in honing leadership skills and a spirit of community service among students. Dr. Porfirio Catolico, Jr., Vice President for Administration and Finance shared that Rotaract must be properly introduced to the CMUeรฑos which was welcomed by the Rotarians. Immediate Past President Thompson Laoianthy of RC Malabon East initiated how the Rotary Club members could contribute to the advancement of CMU.
President-Elect Philip Oyog of RC Malabon demonstrated solidarity by expressing interest in earmarking CMU for a district grant. Furthermore, Rotarian Presidents underscored the willingness to engage CMU in various community service endeavors, including dental missions, livelihood programs, seminars, and student training initiatives.
Following the fruitful deliberations, IPP Laoianthy generously committed to donating 30 cabinets and two 32โ€ televisions to CMU for classroom use. The meeting was also attended by Prof. Jefferson Cruz, University Accountant, and Dr. Marissa Florentino, head of Business Development and Linage Partnership, signifying the university’s commitment to the partnership.
The event was also graced by other notable Rotarians, President-Elect Jason Choa from the Rotary Club of Malabon Central, as well as Pres. Jemuel Pilapil and Charter President Jacil Maris Luma-as from the Rotary eClub of All-Star CAMANAVA.
This collaborative effort between CMU and the Rotary Clubs in Malabon signifies a promising partnership aimed at fostering community development and student empowerment through various initiatives and projects.
